Title: RE: [dnb-prod] recommendations on a new sound source..

i picked up an old roland d110 rack synth from a friend and even though it's not the sort of instrument you would have at the centre of your setup it has some really nice warm sounds in it. Programmable also....really nice pads and basses. You may be ablw to pick them up still for around 150 smacks...

Subject: [dnb-prod] recommendations on a new sound source..

Hello,
I make all kinds of music, mostly focusing on house/techno. I'm needing
another good midi capable sound source, and I was thinking about one of the
Yamaha FM synths, like the DX7 but the prices on those are rising as they
seem to be suffering from the supply/demand and "retro-trend" .. I'm
looking to spend about 200$ but I wanted to consider some other options...
most of what I'm looking for on this sound source is FLEXIBILITY, and
sounds for pads and leads.. I've got an Electribe ER1 and a Roland MC-202
as well as an Akai CD3000i sampler so I've got the rest of it pretty much
covered. I will be sequencing with an MMT8 or Beatpad on a palm m100.

Other things I've considered are the Roland Alpha Juno-2, and the other
Yamaha DX's.... DX100 DX27, etc.

Velocity Sensitivity would be nice, but not mandatory, I'd at least like
for the synth engine to interpret velocity from my sequencer. I don't
*really* need to have a keyboard, but it's something I'll be using live, so
the more flexibility on the controls, the better.

Thanks for any input and suggestions.

Joshua
