What kind of changes? Filling up or stripping down? Mixing up the patterns?
Changing sounds?

Cool. I'd really love to be able to nail drums every time. They're
definitely the hardest part for me, so I'd appreciate any comments.

Is the meat an EQ thing? A sample layering thing? The beats on both tracks
are pretty compressed and distorted already.

I'd say that's fair. I quite like the production on that one, but a few
people have said it needs more of a hook and direction and I'd grudgingly
agree :-)

Me too, whenever I send stuff to labels though, they say give me some 'floor
fillers first and we'll talk about the jazzy tracks later ;-)
