Who are you and why do you keep posting useful messages?
Just a man, my friend, just a man <winks and a sparkle shines off his teeth>, Again, there are those that know more but just dont post it- this shit aint arcane knowlege or anything (for example if you scour the internet enough youll hear most of what I said about mixing repeated). The reason I post so much is simple:
I HAVE FUCKING WRITERS BLOCK.
Ive been having a bitch of a time producing tracks lately, and the feverish posting is a way of getting me back on track. Im hoping by sheding (and in a way re-evaluating) all this technical garbage I can get back to the joy of making noise again. It might be helping- Ive done some bits and pieces and might actually have an MP3 to post soon (mind you just cause I wrote all these tutorials doesnt mean I think my tracks are untouchable- noones is).
I also think its fun to give away my best knowledge in a producers culture that is so guarded and competitive (which is what DNB producers culture is- unlike Techno producers culture which is about being a gear snob and owning the original 303/808/909, and Hip Hop producers culture which is about owning a 3000 dollar hyped up MPC even though you can make half that shit on a 300 dollar phrase sampler). There are PROFESSIONALS on this list, people with ALBUMS pressed, and they dont post shit like this to help out the newbies. In a way I dont blame them, with competition being so fierce and especially with American DnB producers still fighting uphill to get recognized. My opinion however, is that this knowledge should be easily available to anyone trying to learn- the true innovators will always stay ahead of the pack anyway. Drum N Bass music is bigger than a handful of studio tricks or formulas. To think otherwise is to do the art form and culture an injustice...
