normally i'll laugh things off and not respond, but i felt it was
necessary...

people just need to relax.

if you get upset by a topic going slightly ot by one email (which i didn't
think so, i believe dj'ing is almost "live production" and i was commenting
on how i saw a dj do it well and how many other dj's lack that, and you
can't talk about production without talking about spinning), then maybe you
need to stop taking things so seriously.

also, if everyone making drum 'n' bass didn't want to sound like anyone
else, then there wouldn't be a genre, people would just make music. when
you're making a certain style, you're already putting limitations, or
atleast paths, in front of you which you have agreed to follow, if not
atleast be aware of them and stray from them properly. everyone has role
models, and if you don't have them officially, you have "influences".
everyone does, if you wanna try to sound like a badass and say "no, i'm
original" then never touch an amen again. go hit some kitchen utensils
together and hum something.

people need to let go of this "elitist" mindset that's starting to emerge
(or has become more prevalent) in the crowd. i liked this scene because
there was barely a distinction between the unexperienced and the pros, there
were no egos, and everyone just wanted to have a good time. what happened
to that? and if this is too off-topic for you, it's just one email, delete
it. set your threshold a little higher.
