i know ive beaten the "sample cds suck" issue to death, but- honestly, folks.

<<OK it is worth picking up for the sound fx, and synth stabs>>

To pick up an expensive sample cd just because its from the Reinforced camp, when you can download all those stabs spending an hour on the internet is just silly.  Heres why the whole sample cd thing really bugs me tho:

Like all music, dnb evolved from OTHER things- the breaks came from hip hop/funk, the old synth stabs originated from old hardcore techno, and alot of the old vocal stuff had its influence in house. . So why not go DIRECTLY TO THE SOURCE?!! Essentially your paying money to have a big name producing outfit put their "stamp " on something and give you permission to use it.   Ironic considering you gotta make those samples unrecognizable by effecting or else youll be the dumb-ass who had the nerve to write a track using something straight off a drum n bass sample CD (you think these guys expect anyone to write a hit off that cd?- its just easy money for them).

YouDirtyRat's patented guide to getting good dnb sounds (all secrets revealed).

Pads, FX:

MOVIE SOUNDTRACKS!!! and no, I dont mean obvious shit like Blade Runner, and I dont mean ripping blatant vocal samples either.  Rent a good horror, sci fi, or slick action movie.  Hook the TV up to your PC/CD/audio tape and record.  Most modern movies are filled with excellent mood-setting ambience, with all the "drama" built in.  Youll be surprised at just how "techno" most non-sci-fi movies are- synthesizers are in nearly EVERY modern movie.  BTW Theres GOLD on The Replacement Killers..

Breaks:

Hip Hop sample CDs!!!  Again, alot of them try to emulate the old funk style of the 80's and so have alot of well -programmed ghost notes.  And jeezus, get p2p program and download the freekin winston's track already...

Synth Stabs:

Again, these are online, but if your ever browsing a used record store, check out the "dollar bin".  I'll bet you my sampler that you''l find at least two copies of the cheesy "techno" compilations that flooded the market in the mid-90's.  Some of the tracks might be painful on your ears (nothing quite as bad as a bad hardcore track), but the stabs are all there.  Those songs always had the beat drop out when the riffs kick in, so your ALWAYS guaranteed a nice clean sample on almost every track on the CD.

ah fuck it, I cant type no more. no one gives a fuck anyway .

<overcome with depression cause he hasnt made dnb in while and is currently making cheesy progressive house>

<goes and shoots self>
