just got the july issue of computer music mag and there was a great artical
on compression.they gave a rough guide to compression values
attack release thres ratio knee
drums 5ms 10ms -15 5:1-8:1 hard
synth bass 4-10ms 10ms -4 -8 4:1 hard
real bass 4-10ms 10ms -2 -10 8:1 hard
vocals fastest lowest -3 -8 4:1-12:1 soft
brass instru fastest fastest -10 -14 2:1-8:1 hard or soft
guitars fastest fastest -10 -14 ????? hard or soft
