At a guess it's the Mic imputs, I have a 1402VLZ which states in the manual
they upgraded the mic amps, I never use them so it was no advantage to me.

It's a verygood price for a 16 channel Mackie.  I really rate them, though
if i upgraded to a bigger desk I may get something a little warmer .. not
sure, the Mackie's are very clean, designed for chart music I guess, but I
guess you can add your own dirt.
