I would recommend using windows 98 version 2 (98.2) since you already use it
now and you have no problems. I have used/seen 98.2, ME, 2000, xp home and
pro used for audio and to be honest.......they have some major differences
but are basically the same beast as far as interface and usability. They are
not the same as far as drivers and compatibility are concerned though. I
have had 98.2 and after years of trouble shooting and such, have pretty well
got it running and running hot (with around 93% resources freed up before I
use any app which makes it so I can milk all the speed from it and not waste
it on shadey background running profilers and such......). Also, all of the
"trial warez" I have only work with 98.2. I have an Echo Gina 24 bit
Soundcard and run Cubase and Soundforge with no problems. I know some of my
friends had to wait/had problems with win2000 drivers using Echo series
cards in the past (20 bit especially) but I believe those issues have been
squashed and drivers are readily available from Echo for 2000 and XP (not
sure though). As far as Logic is concerned I know there were some issues
with the drivers using XP but again I think that they have been resolved (a
rep told me on the tele that 2000 drivers will work for XP "unoficially"
using Logic although I believe a true XP driver is available for Logic). If
Cubase works and you got it, use it! Logic is powerful but so is Cubase,
especially he upgrade (apples and oranges/ford vs. chevy)I would say 98.2 is
"not the worst" especially considering you have it already and have
experience using it and have progs for it. Good Luck! -B4P
