Over the weekend I tried to sync up two pcs both running Cubase 5.1...
First of all we went out and bought an ADAT/SPDIF optical cable and tried to do it that way.. It was then that we realised that the digital connector on my mate's Powersampler is in fact not optical at all!! So, anyway, we managed to connect a standard audio cable between the RCA Phono SPDIF connectors on my RME hammerfall Multiface and the digital connector on his powersampler.. This gave a digital audio channel link but not much else.. Then we tried using basic MIDI syncing but this was WAYYY out of time... Eventually we managed to improve things by setting the sync on my machine (which was slaving) to ASIO 2 from the basic setting it was already on (in fact, part of the problem was that Cubase kept resetting the sync options every time somebody stopped the track, I'm assuming this is a bug?!?!).. But the two machines were still out of time (unusably so). So what I want to know is.. How the F**k do you sync to a useable degree using MIDI? (I'm assuming it isn't possible in Windows XP or anything else for that matter!).. How do you sync digitally? Ideally we would want to machines to not only share Cubase info but also audio (although the cubase syncing is more important..).... I couldn't even see an option to sync to anything other than MIDI in Cubase.... I know that this is quite a big subject so just a point in the right direction may be good enough... cheers, Nick "Half man, Half fries, It's hard keeping them all inside!" --- Drum&Bass Arena Producers Discussion List http://www.breakbeat.co.uk You are currently subscribed to dnb-prod as: [email protected] To unsubscribe send a blank email to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
