Starting out working in this kind of area can be difficult to work out how to charge. I guess the most important thing is to get the placement becuase it looks good on your CV. STARTING OUT in media for a sound clip in something like a documentary will earn you anywhere from �150-300 per 30 sec clip. I don't know how royalties will work on a game though. You could give them a one of charge like something above, or alternatively ask for a royalty cut and small nominal initial charge.
I would suggest the latter, becuase then you are not asking for money they might not have, but a cut in their success instead. Shows you have a confidence in what they are doing.
The most important thing will be your own coverage. So feel out how they will credit your music. Will you have a credits on the game ending? In the manual? On the box etc...

I've sent a demo CD to a computer games company, and they want to use some
of my music but have asked me to tell them how much I charge and also send
them some kind of price list. Now I've never done this before so I have no
idea what the going rate is. I know that they are not huge company so I
don't want to scare them off but I don't want to under sell myself either.
Have any of you guys done this or have any idea what I should expect /
accept?
Any ideas would help as I really don't know where to start.
