maybe you should think about amending your contract to foot the bill for 
'additional costs' over a certain amount back to the dj or just state that 
you're not responsible for any additional costs past the amount agreed upon 
in contract.

i don't understand the attitude. you would think that experienced dj's would 
understand the work and stress involved in organizing a night and have more 
respect. but what you've described is very common and not specific to one 
scene.
