Most funk is based on the "blues" scale (that's MOST,
not all). C blues is thus:
C Eb F Gb G Bb C
You can transpose that to any key, using this pattern
of half steps to build: 3, 2, 1, 1, 3, 2. So another
example would be:
F Ab Bb Cb C Eb F
The fourth note of the scale can be notated one of two
ways. F# in the first, or just B in the second.
Depends on how anal you want to be about notation,
which I assume you wouldn't want to be anal about at
all.
