Reason: best interface/stability I've ever seen in an audio app, but really awful sound. However, it's good enough to get a record released, and many have done it. Fruity: incredible sound/power/flexibility for $99, but the worst interface in the history of man. Pattern sequencing does have its benefits though. Bottom line: Fruity is like a Porsche that's been beat up. Doesn't look good, but it's a damn fine car. Reason is a kit car, with a gorgeous Bugatti body, but a 4-cylinder Fiat under the hood.
