hmmmm, odd. 
I would think that the invaluable thing would be the hardware compressor, not the EQ.  
I mean, there are a lot of EQ plugins etc out there, and when you look at it, the 
algoritmes ain't that hard.  Can't see why can't do that with software, but then 
again, I 
don't own any hardware... :)
