Im coming out of lurk mode with a bit of a question for you all.
I been producing tracks for a while now that are on a heavy tip. The bass that i've been using throughout all the tracks in one form or another is a stabby 808 kick. Im looking into producing something a bit mellower these days (I am getting on a bit !). But I've never really looked different bass styles. I am a bit of a Dillinja / Dylan fan so all the bass have been distorted heavy stabs. Does anyone have tips for those rolling kinda liquid basses that we are hearing on Intallex, calibre, high contrast tracks. What I've been doing as an experiment is to get Sound forge to generate a square wave - feed it into my emu, add a bit of chorus and play it at about C1 on the keyboard. This sounds good but it's not the sound im looking for. It sound like something more suited to a breaks tune. Thanks for the help !
