The problem is that I did a clean install of windows 2k (no comments

it to XP and I won't go near 9x with a bargepole) cubase 5 reason
Sound forge etc as well as the machine running slowly it also has some
seriously nasty noises that it makes when using audio tracks on cubase
- although when recording a master the nboises don't record buit the
MIDI does go out of sync a bit.
I'm sorry if I didn't get your question but here are two things I can think of. since you just did a fresh install of everything the disk might need defragmenting? Usually when I install everything cleanly (like on the same day) things run a lot slower than usual. Also as a side note...Norton Antivirus protection slows things down A LOT. I would recommend Norton systemWorks.
No comments about an alternative operating system!!:))
And I'm really sorry if I'm being newbie but what was that link again for the upgrade to Cubase SX with the dongle crack? I have Cubase VST24 and I'm having an issue with different versions of ReWire I think....because when I was trying to get the Reason 1.01 to work it couldn't overwrite some ReWire dll files (??). I thought that getting SX would save that problem because I had to uninstall Cubase to get Reason 1.01 to work without the static noise.
Hehe <shrug>.
