Subject: [dnb-prod] Grunging bass drums

Hey,

I've got this cool grungy bass drum I put together, and it turned out into a
good rolling bassline in a break. It's got something in it that I really
like, but I'm not sure what it is. It's really raw and rough sounding. I
tried eq'ing some more bass, and that sounded wrong. I tried compressing it,
and that made it too tight and punchy. I want it to sound more in-your-face,
almost like a rough barking sound. Any suggestions? I don't really know
which effect to use or which way to bring it. I always read these tips like
reversing the sound, adding effects, and reversing them back. Any specific
tips to add raw grunginess? Any plugins I should be trying?

Thanks

Vince
