Many of the demo's I hear suffer from this unfinished syndrome, or the b line and drums work but there's a load of random unrelated sounds thrown over the top to try and fill out the emptyness. It looks like there is some kind of impatience going on and can be very damaging to a reputation for writing/producing tunes. Creativity comes and goes, and if your not in the right mood then do some learning instead, say bass sounds, kik's, intros, drops, etc and build a little thing as an experiment but DONT try to turn it into a finished tune by putting any old sounds you have laying around, just build up a library of ideas so when your heads bustin with inspiration after a night out or whatever, you should already have a pretty good idea or feeling of how the tune should end up before you start to make it and it shouldn't take long to finish. But if you run out of steam, don't be afraid of sacking it off because you can use the good bits in another tune. my 2c --- Drum&Bass Arena Producers Discussion List http://www.breakbeat.co.uk You are currently subscribed to dnb-prod as: [email protected] To unsubscribe send a blank email to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
