G'day, my name's Dillon Connelly and I'm a Media student at the University of
New South Wales in Sydney, Australia.
I'm doing an ethnographic study of electronic music 'boxes' and their users,
trying to find out why you use these particular technologies to create music
and how you interact with the technologies themselves.
If you can find the time I've listed some questions that relate to the subject.
You should know that all responses will be used in my report but none of the
information will be used for commercial purposes. Thanks for your help, links
to music you've created and detailed responses to the questions would be
greatly appreciated.
Also, if you know anyone who would be interested in replying to these questions
please don't hesitate to forward it to them.

1. Why do you use electronic instruments instead of traditional instruments?

2. What kind of equipment do you use? How do you use it?

3. Is the equipment easy or hard to use or 'pick-up'?

4. Would friends, family or collegues that have used your equipment agree with
that answer?

5. How do you interact with the technology?
   - Do you stand or sit while using it?
   - Do you like twiddling the knobs?

6. What kind of music do create with the technology, if it can be categorised?

7. Would it be possible to create similar music using traditional instruments?

8. Who do you create music for?

9. Have you released any music - mp3, CD, LP?

10. Do you perform live?

11. What reaction do you get from people when you tell them that you create
electronic music?

12. Do you ever think there will be a standard piece of electronic music-
making equipment?

13. If it did appear what features would it need to have?

14. Can you see this type of music- making generating virtuoso artists in the
way Hendrix was to the electric guitar?

Cheers for your help. If you'd like to see my results, let me know and I'll
send you my report.
