I'm afraid you may be out of luck. All Dells do this when using external
power. It's not ground noise - it's noise from the transformer. I've seen a
number of things attempted to remove it - ground lifts, using external USB
audio outs instead of the internal ones, power filters. Nothing worked.
The only thing I can think of which might solve the problem - optical
isolation of the D/A converters - would probably be rather expensive, and
might not work.
If you find a AC/DC transformer that doesn't introduce this sound (I'm not
sure if such a thing exists, since it seems the sound is coming from within
the laptop) please let me know.
You might want to email Dell. I'm sure that they have had this complaint
before, many times.
