Title: Re: [dnb-prod] Re: sp1200
Nice one dude.  I have no idea what records it has been used on, I am sure that I have heard plenty of them though.  While I am sure that the technical ring modulation lo fi whatever shit you are talking about is accurate, we could sample certain material (drums especially) on both the zoom and the sp and they would sound different.  The SP would sound much better.  Just like guitars, a lot of the older units have a "tone" about them... Akai MPC 60s, Akai S-1000s, S-01, SP-1200, TR-808... the list goes on.  It may not be worth a G to you and that is fine.  I am sure that you are happy with the gear that you own, as am I.  Nonetheless, I would love to have one and only because I know what it sounds like, but not by referencing some record.

Someone is pissed that they don't have one.  Join the rest of us.  If you have actually used one you would really know what it does.  Please stop looking like a complete idiot by comparing a SP to your piece of shit zoom.

I hardly "want" one. Again, my point is that it ISNT worth a G.   I looked into it out of curiousity after hearing gear-dorks like you "praise" it for sampling lo-fi, with ring modulation type artifacts in the pitch control, no less.  Its so clearly a case of elitist trainspotter posturing that it pissed me off to have to hear people, with a straight face,  try to convince me its worth having when the only reason dickheads like you want one is cause it's "name" is on some old productions.
