Should people use amens - Yet another subject that
should be placed on a banned subject list...
Sorry to prolong this, but we've heard all this
before. If you want to use something use it, if you don't like don't; simple as
that...

ditto... mr. a-sides might like to hear that he is a cheesy newb
as well...
no, he just SOUNDS like one. Two
step tracks that break into amens are ALWAYS a cheap way to get a crowd pumped
up, whether its done by a newb without a better idea or an established
producer whose digging into a bag of well-used tricks. Mind you I never
said it didnt WORK- case in point Aphrodite, whose an established name yet is
constantly digging into that bag of cliches. I wouldnt recommend such tricks
to a new producer trying to develop a style for himslef and trying to learn
how to produce quality tracks. Maybe when your a big cheese and want to
throw together a quick and dirty dancefloor stormer yes, but your er,
not.
Not to be rude but I find it funny that this whole thing
turned into an accusation that I was injecting unecessary "rules" into
the creative process (encouraging conformity), yet the argument against me was
that if two producers were doing it, then it must be a good idea (thus
encouraging conformity).
BTW its a naive misconception that
structure and is antithesis to creativity- exactly the oppostie.
If it wasnt for structure and "rules" we'd all be making IDM (which ironically
has its own rules). --- Drum&Bass Arena
