so I need to creata a loop in something like Fruity Loops for example, save
it as a wave file and import that into Acid or Cubase??

then layer other wav files over the top (for bass, instruments, vocals etc)?

Mate,

I don't know about Cubase (used it for a bit & found it too hard to get
into) but ACID isn't at all designed for creating loops.  It's more for
sequencing/arranging the loops after they're built.  I highly recommend
OctaMED for this, or if you prefer Fruity Loops does the same job.

Let me know if you want further help i.e. where to get hold of & how 2 use.
