Lee, you're probably right...

I bet its the IRQ conflict....
Even if they are supposed to be able to share resources - as with everything else on PCs regarding music, do you really think Bill Gates sat down and tried to playback a super tight beat sequence with his gold plated soundcard and platinum midi interface before claiming XP/2000 will share resources.... I doubt it...
I have 2 setups on my PC, one for normal stuff and the internet and the other with all the unused non studio devices disabled and I think (but it could be a placebo effect), that the midi timing is much better on the studio setup,

Can you change the addresses?

Subject: [dnb-prod] Skipping Midi

While we're kinda of on the subject I've having a bastard problem with midi skipping.

For example I've got a 8 bar loop (10 midi channels)  in cubase 5.6 - randomly it will miss notes and sometime not play certain notes.

I've got a USB midiman 2x2 and a decent p4. All the latest drivers are installed etc. The midi loop is setup as suggested in the midiman manual.
Although I have set it up in every conceivable manner for test purposes.

I've done everything - disabled the network card incase it's polling was effecting midi timing - switched my dual monitor config off.
Even tried Cubase Sx (still does it). Clean install of win XP.

The only thing I can see that maybe causing it now is that the echo gina soundcard is on the same IRQ (19) as the usb port that
is controlling the midi man.

Im an old skool PC person and in my day device on IRQ 19 where a big no no. But people tell me XP / 2000 can handle shared resources.

It's becoming a real pain this - It's fingers crossed everytime I try to record a mix down.

I've now resorted to using my laptop to run the sequence to record !!!

Any Comments / ideas ?
