You're probably better cutting it up in to more than 8 pieces (there are more hits 
than the 8 bars).  If you go for the individual hits (I know recycle does this 
automatically, don't know about soundfirge, etc), you'll end up with more flexability 
and hence creativity.

when i think of the amen break the first thing that comes to mind is its 
used by alot of people. Would soundforge do the same thing as recycle?? are 
u suggesting getting an amen sample and choppin it into eight bits?? sorry 
for sounding like a complete amateur but i'm absolutley lovin this producers
