this is a good idea.

I'd actually rather get a pool going. For anyone that's down, I can host the
files on my server. but i'm glad you're interested. :)

As a warning - I use reason 2.5 so anyone without the 2.5 upgrade wouldn't be able to read my files.

you MUST use recycle to augment Reason.

Seriously.

You open up any wav file in recycle, and you can set markers across the
wav - for drum loops, you set these markers where the

individual drum hits

begin (i.e. kick, snare, hats).

The places in between the markers are "slices" of the break or

other audio

file that you've loaded into recycle, and when you save this

new sliced-up

file as a .rex or .rx2 file, you can load this into Reason via

the dr. Rex

loop player. the dr rex allows you to tweak the sound in various ways,
including overall pitch (without changing the length of the entire loop,

as

it resamples the individual slices as opposed to the whole), filtering,
oscillation / mod effects, pitch bending, etc. (most of the

same functions

available in the nn19 sampler module).

From here, you can write out unique new bastardizations of the

loop in the

sequencer window - you click the button that looks like a set of stairs
(right next to the Piano Roll button) and it will allow you to

view a grid

that you can write your slices into.

if you use breaks either just for layering or as the sole percussive
rhythmic elements in your tunes you're missing out by not using recycle

and

the dr. rex. :)

I've got sound forge 6 and steinberg wavelab, thats what i use for re-sampling ----- Original Message ----- From: Johnson, Matthew To: Drum & Bass Arena Discussion List Sent: Friday, July 25, 2003 12:24 PM Subject: [dnb-prod] RE: AMEN

Thats what I am using too! - along with various wave editing

programs etc.

ReCylce is pretty handy.
It will allow you to load up a wav sample of the amen break, chop it up

into

its individual 'hits', and then export it into reason in rex

format to use

in the redrum module etc.
That way you can manipulate it and give the amen break your personal

touch.

I'm using reason 2.5, i do have recycle but ive never used it. thanx for the help people. ----- Original Message ----- From: Johnson, Matthew To: Drum & Bass Arena Discussion List Sent: Friday, July 25, 2003 10:53 AM Subject: [dnb-prod] RE: AMEN

Hi,

this break has been widely used since the beginning of time, so

there will

be plenty of samples around.
try the Dogs on Acid site for starters, I beleive that houses some amen
break concoctions.

alternatively, sample one from an exisiting track and cut it up.
what are you using to produce? h/w s/w?

Do you have Propellerheads ReCycle?

sorry if this is no help to you.
there are many websites around with the Amen break - its just

that I don't

have the URLs to hand.
