This discussion is a god send. You will save hours of bouncing audio. Thanks for that guys. Having been using pc's all my life I was very reluctant to admit that mac's could be better. I have now started doing a music tech course and am starting to flack because mac's really are more stable. However it is a shame that mac's are not easily upgradable or cheep. It is also very difficult to find cracked software for them. Perhaps this is the reason logic have take this plan of action.

anyway I am so glad of this discovery.

Cubase SX 2.0 has it as standard and Nuendo 2.0 will have it in the next
version I believe. Take a look at FxFreeze (www.fxfreeze.com) for a
standalone package that will add Freeze function to your existing sequencer.
Also check out the sister program fxteleport (www.fxteleport.com) which is
the shiznit if you've got a pc network.

Does anyone know whether the freeze function in Logic Plat 6 is also
availalbe in another form on Cubase or Sonar etc...

Having the ability to freeze audio tracks with loads of plugs ins etc, allow
the computer to treat it as a plain audio file and free up the CPU and still
be able to unfreeze the file to edit further down the line is genius...

I can't afford a new Mac and Logic Platinum, so wondered what the
alternatives were for PCs...

Apple going all exclusive with Logic really p*ssed me off.
