Very intuitive acid-like audio based sequencer that you can use to trigger samples via midi or keyboard.
Works with VST plugs and has very excellent algorithms for timestretching beats, textures, tones etc.
Definitely the way to go.

I thought it was strange that there was no acid type program (or compatibility with) mentioned when I looked up Mac audio editing software....

I understand they still develop it for mac but stopped for pc.
