Ah,
the flipside
to the coin 8)
I've been
trying to decide if this is the way to go, but i can't be bothered to be frank
with the time i will spend making the thing.... I mean, I bought my sampler
and synths and never once considered making them myself (if you get my point),
so I am coming round to the idea of just paying someone to make me a
decent machine that has dual boot XP and ghost CDs as standard
etc.... I would rather pay another 100 or so and get something reliable
that I don't have to tweak as much (or at all if I'm lucky!) from day one....or
be able to reinstall from a CD if it goes t*ts up....
If i make it
myself, it will still have roughly the same components in it as if i buy one
ready made (in fact, not as high spec for the price of the DV 3ghz at
850) I just get the dubious pleasure of spending many evenings putting it
together and cursing it when things don't fit right.... and even if the ready
made one needs tweaking, its still something i would have to do to my homemade
one.... so I reckon its gonna be a DV type ready made one... and being able to
speak to an engineer in person to say how i want it set up is better than
emailing an order and hoping for the best when putting it all together
8)
Cheers for
the info tho
Dan
Never bought anything from digital
village.
They promise to be the cheapest around and price
match if you find cheaper elsewhere.
The customer service leads a lot to be desired
but i bought the components from there to build my own machine and havnt had
any problems.
Do not know if this is any use to
you.

Subject: [dnb-prod] Digital Village PCs
- Good / Bad ????
Morning all
Just on the
verge of buying a new music PC and have been very tempted by the DV XT 3ghz PCs given the spec, the price
and the fact that I have a DV shop near my house... I seriously
considered building my own, but can't seem to beat the price (particularly
not including the time it would take me to build it!). Also building time is
less music time, so it doesn't really stack up the more i think about
it....
Are there any happy customers out there who have bought a DV
pc recently and been happy with them or vice versa (any nightmare
stories)?
Any info would be cool as they seem like a very good deal
compared to building it myself....but I would consider another dealer if
there is a good reason not to buy one from Digital
Village.....
