Its like click start-settings-control panel-system-advanced tab then in startup and recovery click settings and inside there is an option to edit manually the startup options.

I believe you then edit this the same way you would do the old dos/windows dual boot.

Aside from that I am not much help mate.  If you goto support.microsoft.com there may be some more info.

Subject: [dnb-prod] Re: WIN XP and Dual Booting - one for the hedz

Can you just do that by using the XP equivalent of the profiles setup section in Win98SE cos that would be noice and simple 8)

Or does it involve a lot more head scratching 8(

Is XP Home different to XP Pro for this scenario?

Also, when i have different profiles, the software installed still stays the same when you use the PC, its just the hardware installed that is either enabled or disabled.... which results in stuff like virus checkers being active across all the profiles...

Or is there a way around this?
How is it done?

Cor theres more questions there than this list has seen for a long time!

Cheers for the info James,
Happy xmas to everyone

The windows xp dual boot is configured in the same way as the old dos/win3.1 boot screens.

Technically you can create as many as you need without installing multiple copies.

good luck!!!!

AFternoon

Can you set up a virtual dual boot system within Windows XP without actually installing 2 copies???

Just wondered cos someone i know uses Multiple Accounts and reckons that works as effectively as a dual boot....

I kind of do the same in Win98SE using different profiles depending on what I am using the PC for (e.g. the Network card is disabled in the Audio profile along with all the printer ports and unused USB ports etc) however this doesn;t stop stuff like Firewalls and Virus Checkers being active across all profiles (which isn't really what you want for audio recording etc)..

Does this still happen in different accounts using XP or is it effectively the same as a dual boot system???

Just wondered like 8)

Cheers
Dan
