No, it's probably not worth it.
Binary news items are almost all already compressed, so you get a fairly
low compression rate, non binaries are mostly not that big, so there is not
a big gain, and on a busy system the performance hit can be serious.
If you are trying to keep lots of text groups, on a small system, say less than
10gig of disk space, then it might be a good idea, but in most case I
wouldn't bother.
