This is a fascinating feature of usenet, basically if somone crossposts a
message between a public group and a private group, then the message
can travel around the world in the public group, and when it gets to a system
where the private group exists it will also appear on that local group even
though your incoming feed doesn't send messages that are 'only' for the
local group.

It's not necessarily done intentionally, this happens whenever a news client
responds to a cross posted message and doesn't bother to check that
all the groups exist locally and this is a common fault/feature of news clients
to behave like this.
