This occurs because spawn_expire true
is the default with 5.4j7, and until the first expire completes there will
be no expire status information.
So this is normal. :-)

This means you don't have an active.times file, which is normally a
record of when your newsgroups were created. It's not needed really
although if you do this:
tellnews fixtimes 30
It will create an active.times for you and that will stop the errors.
