Lets assume your local groups are called NBC.*, then I would do something
like this in expire.conf
remember 3
pile 1 groups *
pile 2 groups nbc.*
That will put all posts for those groups into pile 2 and it also sais never
expire any items, then to archive them
you would make backups of db_*_2.itm
Be careful changing expire.conf rules, read the web page
