Yes I believe the previous response to this is correct, your news clients
need resetting
they have a bad habbit of remembering the last item number, and when you
installed dnews
your numbering was reset so the item numbers are lower than with your
previous system.
The way to avoid this is to start with the active file from your former
system but you can't
really do that now without wiping your entire spool.
If that doesn't resolve your problem try
tellnews showgroup rec.humor
to see if it is getting new items (as an example) and try another news client
to be doubly sure then get back to me.
