Stop dnews, look in dnews work and spool and log for these two files
active.mon
active.bak
See which one contains your news groups, once you find it copy it to
\dnews\work\active.dat
Then start dnews and type in:
tellnews check_index
Then all your groups should exist and the contents should be there too.
If the contents is missing, try a
tellnews rebuild_index
But normally that isn't needed.
