You can change this information using the 'tellnews newgroup' command -
tellnews newgroup group.name y creator news group description

You cannot rename an existing group, but you can copy the contents of one
group to another, and delete the existing group.
Create a new group using -
tellnews newgroup group.name.to
Then copy the group contents as follows -
tellnews copy_group group.name.from group.name.to
And finally, delete the old group after checking the items have copied
correctly -
tellnews rmgroup group.name.from
