These instructions here are what you need -

This tells you what files you need to copy, and how to restore them on a new
system.
In brief, you need the active.* files from your work area, and db*.itm files
from your spool area. If you need to restore quicker, and your new server is
similar to the old (same type of computer and ideally same OS), then you can
also just copy everything to avoid time-consuming index rebuilding.
You also need to backup your configuration directory and dnews.conf.
