I'm not entire sure I follow what you're asking... Some groups could appear to be in netwin.dnews simply because they are cross-posted there. I believe active.dat is updated when dnews is shut down, so if netwin.dnews has recently been added, it won't appear in active.dat immediately.
Ihave feeds are controlled by the sending end, so no, adding the group won't cause the group to be sent. The netwin.* groups are not widely carried, so if you wish to include these on your server, you may wish to set up a sucking feed as Jay suggested. - Roydon L. ----- Original Message ----- From: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Newsgroups: netwin.dnews To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Wednesday, June 12, 2002 6:06 AM Subject: this newsgroup netwin.dnews > > OK > This is kinda weird but maybe there is an answer like > yes the name of this group is comp.?.?.? > or something like that. > > my server dose NOT have the group netwin.dnews in its active.dat file. > > however using News Rover connecting to my server i can search for messages and find them posted to this group. > > how is it doing that? > > also if i edit an active.add to include this newsgroup > and do a tellnews group_merge will dnews automaticly request this group from my "upstream ihave" provider? > > > > Thanks > -joe@newsripper- >
