Hi, There are no features in DNews to scan for proxies on remote systems. The best you could do would be to use the additional logging offered by 'loguse true' to determine which systems were generating the greatest traffic and investigating those manually.
Although this is just my opinion, I wouldn't consider this, or an automated proxy detection mechanism, to be suitable alternatives to authentication or more restrictive anti-spam rules. See http://www.netwinsite.com/dnews/spam.htm for details on setting per user/IP limits. - Roydon L. <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote in message news:<[EMAIL PROTECTED]>... > Exactly :)...Thanks for your help :) > > As "netwin support" mentioned NNTP does not have any proxy-specific features > i have found 1 or 2 applications which behaves like a client to any news > server, and like a server to a client.Like netwin's "webmail" product does > for mail servers. It connects to the server which it's client wants and gets > the headers and gives the client that headers. And of course there are > various numbers of servers that routes any port to any, over internet using > routing policies like ipchains... > > The problem is, i want to be capable of blocking my malicious users > definitely.I dont want them to be able to come via open proxies over > internet. My server is a local server, and most of my clients have static ip > numbers. But as i block them, they can connect via the servers which treats > like i mentioned above, so the blocking feature doesnt do definitely what i > want.So i want capability of detecting if he/she connects via a server that > treats like a proxy (maybe using well known proxy ports, etc.). > We havent configured authentication for our server yet (Because we want to > configure RADIUS authentication, and we want to use the same database which > we use to authenticate our RAS connections or mail servers users, so we are > designing our database nowadays ), so we can onlu block users using their ip > addresses. > > Thanks to you and "netwin support" for paying attention to my problem. > > > "Fred Bloggs" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote in message news:[EMAIL PROTECTED] > > >
