Hi, What you propose is basically it :) You can feed the news to another server, but since you're already using DNews, I'd advise doing it the easy way.
We have detailed instructions on moving DNews here - http://www.netwinsite.com/dnews/faq3.htm#10 Assuming you're not changing system architecture, you should be able to use the instructions for moving to the same OS and save yourself some time. The only other thing you should be aware of is that if you're using a newer version of DNews (5.6a1 or later), you will need to deactivate your old server before activating the new. - Roydon L. <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote in message news:<[EMAIL PROTECTED]>... > > Now that Red Hat has told everyone to go f*ck themselves, I have decided to move to Debian. Is there anything that would prevent me from installing dnews on the Debian 3.0 platform? Also, is there an easy way to move everything from one server to another? My plan is to install dnews, then copy over the /etc and /usr/local/dnews files, then copy over the spools, which are backed up once per hour. Is this the correct way, or is there an easier way? > > -- > ll >
