DNews can create detailed logs (loguse true) of user access which are easily summarised using our 'duse' tool (included with DNews), and the output of this can be processed with your own utilities to do various things. E.g. the output can be processed at the end of each month to determine the total usage for the period, or more regularly using cron/at. This isn't really suitable for real time statistics unfortunately.
If you use RADIUS accounting, the use can also be recorded there at the end of each session.
