No, this isn't a known problem. It may be isolated to a specific build, and IE and OE seem to have a habit of behaving slightly differently across different Windows versions, so the problem may not be reproducable.
Could you send the source of a message that didn't work correctly? Ctrl+F3 (F2?) in OE will display the source as it was sent to the server. If you copy that in to a file we'll be able to see how it behaves in DNews and look for any odd headers.
