My recent usage demonstrated Firefox to be more efficient than Chrome on a 1 GiB netbook. I would suggest the ESR version of Firefox as a starter browser. Qupzilla or Midori could also serve as initial included browser.
The idea is only to provide a means to download a desired browser.
