Tasksel just adds some extra packages, an upgrade will work that way
but you'll save some time with just a base install.

I'm planning to give Devuan a try so I got a Debian 7.9 netinst image
(don't want to install jessie). Got it from here:

My guess is that if nothing is installed from tasksel I shouldn't
have
issues with the repositories (i. e. getting stuff from jessie instead
of wheezy), but I'm not sure and don't want to waste too much time
with the process.
