I'd like to see a long term focus on removing the entanglement with other invasive dependencies, particularly those which are likely to be folded into systemd in the future, and on staying true to the Unix philosophy.
DBUS and PulseAudio are freedesktop backed technologies which are likely to be folded entirely into systemd in the future. Further down the line, make it possible to do a guided install directly from an existing Linux environment - similar in function to debtakeover but perhaps with a bit more handholding. In the much longer term, I'd like to see a more sensible approach to getting current software, with a LTS approach to essential "core" packages, and an aggressive release schedule for everything else - so that the core system would be on a yearly release cycle with 3 years of support, but rapidly changing things like browsers might see a monthly release cycle with only 3 months of support.
