I don't know about ascii, I am running Devuan Jessie on an Olimex board that did require a tweak due to a hardware change affecting the Ethernet port. The 4.8 kernel supplied with the Devuan image does not contain the fix for that change. I need an updated Python for SSL support and am compiling 2.7.14 and 3.6.3 locally rather than upgrading to ascii since a dist-upgrade proposed to remove udev rather than upgrade it due to the dependency of util-linux (IIRC) being unavailable. That depends on libsystemd0 per the Debian packages page, so that appears to need to be resolved before even an upgrade of a very minimal jessie installation to ascii is possible. - Nate -- "The optimist proclaims that we live in the best of all possible worlds.
