My understanding that the RAA requirements have been under discussion for quite some time. I'm surprised there is a perception that the mechanism for registry accuracy is now considered to be not well thought out. > Suspension certainly gets attention from the registrant, but for a lot of the > existing domains have been auto-renew / set and forget for more than a couple > decades in a lot of cases. Right, but isn't the point of the contact information to be able to actually contact the party responsible for the domain in the event of abuse or ill-use? If the admin has changed and the contact information hasn't been updated, doesn't that make the registration database entry useless? > I don't have a great solution in mind, other than perhaps as other group > wisdom would unfold from the community suggestions that have been made around > the validation at renewal on existing names, so at least they are not swept > into the same wood chipper designed to mulch newly created domains that may > have bad contact info. I guess I'm confused as to the point of the Whois database... Regards, -drc
