Even if they do allow publishing CNAMEs it doesn't solve the issue for many as what they really want is "_http._tcp SRV 0 0 0 server" to be supported rather than "CNAME server" as it is not just the SOA and NS records which clash. They want to have other records + redirection for HTTP/HTTPS.
