A few years ago I was looking for something like this while scoping a project. Not best practices, but practical advice: How wide should the cart wheels be for the road? What water is safe to drink? Turning some of the unknown unknowns in to known unknowns. I welcome comments / edits publicly or privately. I could have put it on GitHub and solicited pull requests (still willing to do that) but experience demonstrates that what I get is email.
